Description
Our Beliefs
I believe in God the Father Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth,
and in Christ Jesus, His only son, our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and buried,
on the third day rose from the dead,
ascended to heaven,
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty,
from where he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the holy spirit,
the holy universal church,
the fellowship of the saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the flesh,
and life everlasting.
Amen.
Our Goal
Simply put, to unite the Church. Every Unified Church seeks to unite anyone who is a follower of Jesus together in one Body. In order to accomplish this task, each church seeks to be a safe place to explore, discuss, and hold any secondary doctrines outside of the Apostles’ Creed as we follow Jesus together. The standard of our beliefs is the teaching of Jesus Christ and the apostles, not our doctrinal preferences.
We want to cultivate a community with a certain posture towards one another, God, and the scriptures; one of humility, gentleness, respect, and love, in our pursuit of the truth.
What unites us as a Church is our common indwelling of the holy spirit (Rom. 8:9), our loyalty to Jesus as King (Luke 14:33) and head of the Church (Col. 1:18), our common salvation through the sacrifice of Jesus (Rom. 5:8-9), and our love for one another (Gal. 6:10).
Our Ethics
The sum of all the commandments is love, love for God and love for one another (Matt. 22:37-40).
“Love is patient, and is kind; love does not envy; love does not brag, is not puffed up, does not act improperly, is not self-seeking, is not provoked, does not keep a record of wrongs, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things” (1 Cor. 13:4-7).
As Christians, true faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior requires repentance from sin (Jam. 2; Acts 3:19; Matt. 5:29). We are called to repent from sin, such as pride, divisiveness, anger, lust, sexual immorality, gossip, and deceit (Mark 7:21-23; Gal. 5:19-21; 1 Cor. 6:9) because they hurt ourselves and those around us (1 Cor. 6:18), and instead, we are to produce the fruit of the spirit such as love, joy, peace, patience, and kindness (Gal. 5:22-23).
Our Identity
The Church is a people, following Jesus Christ the Head of the Church, indwelt and gifted with the Holy Spirit, forgiven through the sacrifice of Jesus, and reconciled to the Father.
Our Purpose
The purpose of any and every church is to make disciples of all nations who follow Jesus Christ.
